I got my new computer and it's superfast. It's a huge relief to be working on something that doesn't take ages to do everything. My old desktop PC was so slow it was painful. Now I'm zippy. Yay!



Since I'm sure you don't want to see a picture of the computer here's a picture of one of the guinea pigs we ended up adopting. We got the mom pig and one of the babies. This is the baby who we ended up naming Mei. The mom came with the name Hannah, so we kept it. How unoriginal of us.

The pigs we already had are still getting used to the new ones. Kiki has hierarchical issues, so there's been a lot of posturing and threatening and rumbling. It's slowly getting better, but they haven't quite worked it out. I don't know what the big deal is, it's not like you get more lettuce if you're the top pig.

Thanks for all the support on my bad technology day. It did get better and I even managed to emerge from the woods with both eyes intact.

I ended up ordering a new computer that day. It's good even though I have a mini heart attack every time I remember I did because I also need to pay for two crowns on my teeth and a week of day camp for The Boy and I'm driving to NC next month and will need lots of gas money for that. But I need a computer too, and this one I'm using is on its way out.

ANYHOW. It's supposed to be delivered to me today. It will be difficult not to obsessively check the UPS site to see if the status of the package has changed.

I promise to get lots of work done while I wait. Then I can justify the hours I'll spend later tinkering with the settings and choosing a desktop image and marveling at the speed and shiny bright newness of it all.

So far this day has been a waste. All the technology hates me. Right down to the toaster that refused to do more than warm my bagel. I had to fiddle with the wireless connection and then my computer kept crashing. And my printer went kooky and I had to unplug it and then deal with the endless restart. I finally decided I'd give up on computer stuff and put together 30 key chain kits wrong and had to redo them.

I think I'll go for a walk in the woods. Worst that can happen in there is I put my eye out with a stick.

Anybody have any sage laptop-buying advice they'd like to share? Especially the "OMG DON'T EVEN THINK OF BUYING THIS" sort of advice. Thanks.
